Around here, we don’t associate Cape Town with words such as ‘a bore’ or ‘nothing to do’ but rather ‘the city that is abundant with daring activities and adrenaline-pumping things to get up to’.
Get ready to jump on this train as we list bucket list worthy experiences you need to fully take advantage of.
What will it take to do these activities?
- Mentally prepare yourself to be blown away by excitement.
- Get your mouth strepsils ready because you’ll probably be screaming while zipping down mountain canyons.
- Dress for comfort. Most of these activities require good shoes as you’ll be on the go and not on your couch.
1. Jump rope
Let go at 1 000 metres above sea level. Calling all brave hearts, Abseiling is for those ready to put themselves through an ultimate test as you descend down a sheer cliff into vertical spaces. Guaranteed to get your pulse racing.
2. Befriend a shark
Get lowered down into blue wilderness water and Shark Cage Dive the densest population of great white sharks in the Mother City. 3. Paraglide over slopes
Have your feet dangling below you as you sky scrape over mountains, valleys and canyons. With a highly-qualified Paraglide pilot, you’ll be flying for approximately 5 – 30 minutes. Enough time to get in a bunch of snaps as you glaze the city up there. Just secure your camera to a lanyard and you’re good to go!
4. Zipline through nature
Pick a trail in the sky and make memories. With so many aerial zipline trails to choose from you can see yourself zipping over dams and slopes as high as 155 metres to 500 metres long into scenic green forests. It makes for a connective day in nature too.
5. Flight out of a plane
Skydiving is a quick and easy way to experience a freefall minus learning the theory beforehand. Many skydiving headquarters are sandwiched between greenlands of Cape Winelands to bustling Table Bay Harbour. You just arrive, suit up and jump – with an instructor to ensure a breezy dive of course.
