Cape Town International Airport has achieved a remarkable ranking as the second-best airport in the world, according to the latest AirHelp report.
Cape Town International Airport ranks second in Top 10 Best Airports in the World
The ranking is based on a comprehensive evaluation of various metrics, including on-time performance, customer service, and the quality of food and shops available.
The airport scored an impressive 8.50 out of 10, closely following Doha Hamad Airport, which scored 8.52.
Cape Town International Airport excelled in on-time performance with a score of 8.6, customer opinion with a score of 8.4, and food and shops with a score of 8.5.
Other airports in the top 10 include Nagoya Chubu Airport in Japan, Osaka Itami Airport in Japan, and Brasília–Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek Airport in Brazil.
Not only did Cape Town’s air transit hub rank second globally, but it also claimed the top spot as the best airport in Africa.
This recognition spotlights the airport’s superior infrastructure, efficient operations, and high levels of passenger satisfaction compared to other airports on the continent.
Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport also featured in the top 10, ranking sixth globally with an overall score of 8.29.

AirHelp’s airport rankings are based on three primary metrics: on-time performance, customer service, and the quality of food and shops.
- On-time Performance: This metric evaluates how likely it is for flights to depart and arrive on time at each airport. Cape Town International Airport scored 8.6 in this category, indicating a high level of punctuality.
- Customer Service: AirHelp conducted surveys with thousands of passengers across 64 countries to gather insights on airport staff, wait times, and cleanliness.
