Autumn activities to get up to in Cape Town will soon populate diaries as we bear the last few weeks of what has been one helluva hot summer.
Key elements of the autumn season
After February, the beaches will start seeing a gradual decline in traffic. Not on the account of bad weather since, in tropical Cape Town, the autumn season generally sustains a fair balance of warm-but-windy weather.
It is, more or less, due to the fact that in this period, the duration of daylight shortens in exchange for longer nights. Cape Town is a city renowned for its lush-green forestry and in autumn, deciduous trees prepare to shed in winter by changing colour, presenting a wondrous hue made up of right red, earthy brown, vibrant orange and yellow.
In South Africa, autumn is expected to begin on Sunday 20 March 2022 and end on 21 June 2022, the day of the winter solstice.
