Facebook announced it is adding more updates to the Transfer Your Information feature on Monday to improve user experience – to provide people with choice and control over their data.
Facebook announces updates to Transfer Your Information tool
The Transfer Your Information tool makes it possible for users to transfer a copy of their information to other services. Facebook said that people will now be able to use filters that allow them to more precisely select the data they want to transfer and they will have the ability to simultaneously start multiple data transfers for one destination.
For a better user experience, Facebook introduces a simpler way to transfer data. It will be very much easier to see what destinations and what type of data is supported.
People will also have access to their transfer status, which will help them track how much data has been downloaded or transferred already.
Facebook is working with developers to expand the selection of data types and destinations
The company said that it is also working with developers to expand the selection of data types and destinations. So far, users can transfer information, including their posts, to destinations such as Google Docs, WordPress, and Blogger. They can also transfer their photos and videos to Backblaze, Dropbox, Google Photos, and Koofr.
In April Facebook even beefed the safety and privacy of people who will be using the TYI tool. Facebook asks you to enter your password before granting you access or downloading any information so that they are sure that it is really you. Facebook said that they are also trying to call for government regulation to make clearer rules about who is responsible for protecting that data as it is transferred to different services.
“We plan to continue expanding our data types and partners in the future,” Facebook wrote in a blog post from April.
“We hope that today’s updates can help advance conversations with policymakers, developers and experts about these issues,” Facebook added.
