According to Downdetector.com, over 31,000 users reported issues on WhatsApp, 30,000 on Instagram, and 6,000 on Facebook.
Users struggled with sending messages on WhatsApp and encountered loading problems on Instagram and Facebook.
The hashtags #InstagramDown and #FacebookDown trended on X as users sought alternative platforms to share updates.
The disruption impacted users in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, and parts of South America.
Many were unable to send messages, access feeds, or load profiles, marking one of the largest outages reported this year.
Despite the scale of the problem, Meta had not issued an official statement at the time of publication.
Internet users were quick to take to X to share their experiences and frustrations. Posts ranged from humorous memes to concerns over the reliability of the platforms, particularly during peak usage times.
This latest outage adds to a series of service disruptions that have plagued Meta in recent years. The incident also coincides with increasing scrutiny of the company’s role in managing global communication networks.
