A high-end M1X Mac Mini is reportedly expected in the next several months and it will have more ports than the current model, According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Mac Mini 2021 leaked
The first Mac Mini was introduced in January 2005, using PowerPC G4 processors. The latest model based on Apple silicon processors was introduced in November 2020, returning to the silver finish of earlier models.
The latest model is developed to unlock the potential of the M1 chip, which uses AI and machine learning for video analysis, voice recognition, image processing, and more — the chip makes the processing on the desktop seamless.
“Last fall, as part of its trio of initial Macs to transition over to Apple Silicon chips, the company updated the older Mac mini design with the M1 processor. The Mac mini is used for more basic tasks like video streaming, but many people use it as a software development machine, as a server, or for their video editing needs. Apple knows that, so it kept the Intel model around. Well, expect that to go away in the next several months with a high-end, M1X Mac mini. It will have an updated design and more ports than the current model,” Mark Gurman wrote.
Apple to add more ports to the model
The upcoming model might use the same generation cores as that of the M1 chip. However, it might achieve even better performance because of the speculation that the M1X chip is larger and comes with more CPU and GPU.
It is also rumoured that the new model might come with a new design since it hasn’t really changed since 2010.
Apple is also expected to add more ports in addition to the internals and is expected to introduce totally redesigned MacBook Pro models soon, also sporting the more powerful M1X chip, according to Engadget.
