On Tuesday, Google announced that it has added more privacy features in Chrome, including per-site permissions and safety checks for Android smartphones and tablets.
Per-site permisssions on Google Chrome
You will be able to see which sites you granted permission to information, such as access to your location, microphone, and camera by simply tapping the lock icon on the left side of the Chrome address bar to open the updated panel. You will be able to toggle more easily between sharing and not sharing access to things like your location.
Google says that in the future they will also add an option to delete a site from your browsing history. For now, these site controls will only be available on Android smartphones and tablets and will be arriving on other platforms in upcoming releases.
Safety checks from the address bar
In 2020 Google introduced ‘Chrome Actions’ which include the ability to delete history and edit passwords right in the Chrome address bar by typing “edit passwords” or “delete history”.
Google says that you can now do more with this feature — you can type “safety check” to check the security of passwords, scan for malicious extensions, and more. You can even type “manage security settings” or “manage sync” to quickly access relevant controls.

The company is also expanding ‘Site Isolation’, a security feature that protects you from malicious websites. Google says that the aim is to process each site separately, so they can’t access data they’re not supposed to.
“Site Isolation will now cover a broader range of sites, as well as extensions, and all of this comes with tweaks that improve Chrome’s speed,” Product Manager Audry An wrote in a blog post.
Google says that their improvements to image processing will make phishing detection 50 times faster and drain less battery.
In the upcoming weeks, there will also be more new updates and features coming to Chrome on Android and Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS.
