Google announced on Monday that it is adding a new feature to Google Meet to warn users when they are causing an echo to make the experience better and seamless for everyone.
Google adds a new feature to Google Meet
Google has been constantly working to improve the workspace. Recently, the company added Quick access tools, expanded safety features, and the ability to add up to 25 hosts in a single meeting.
Up until now, Google Meet didn’t have an option to notify a user when they are causing an echo, except when someone in the meeting told them. The new feature will make the experience better for everyone. When the notification pops up a user is also given an option to check how they can fix their echo problem.
In the same place that the notification will now pop up other issues like terrible connection pop up. Usually, Google warns you before the issue becomes a problem for everyone.
How to fix an echo when you’re in a meeting
Google recommends visiting the troubleshooting guide when you’re experiencing poor video or audio quality. Google says it is especially important to visit the guide if you have an older or low-powered computer.
The presence of software or other devices on your computer could also interfere with your video and audio quality. A poorly performing network could affect your video quality too.
If you are having audio issues, Google recommends you try the following:
- Turn up the volume on your computer or phone.
- Ask the meeting organiser to confirm that they are not muted in the meeting and that audio is working properly within the meeting.
These two solutions might, however, not help you at all. You will then have to go to your computer settings and select audio. Your computer will detect the problem and instantly fix it for you.
