Twitter owner Elon Musk left ‘tweeps’ concerned when, in a tweet, he flirted with the possibility of “dying under mysterious circumstances.”

Elon Musk cryptic tweet about dying mysteriously sets off alarm bells

The South African-born mega-billionaire is in the process of taking ownership of the biggest and, perhaps, most influential social media platform in the world.

Musk’s Twitter acquisition came with cheers and skepticism, with regulators and lobbyists concerned about the power he may yield. This is, in part, why many of his 91.5 million+ followers were left in shock when he tweeted:

If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin ya

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 9, 2022

This warning, as it turns out, may have had very little to do with Musk’s move to Twitter. In fact, the Tesla CEO was making light of a threat he received from a man named Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos.

According to Musk, Rogozin issued a statement to Russian media, accusing the SpaceX founder of aiding Ukraine with Starlink internet terminals that have proven useful in deterring Russia’s invasion attempts.

“From the testimony of the captured chief of staff of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Dmitry Kormyankov, it follows that the ground-based subscriber equipment of the Starlink satellite company Elon Musk was delivered to the militants of the Nazi Azov Battalion and the Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Mariupol by military helicopters,” the letter from Rogozin read.

Rogozin asserts that Musk colluded with the United States government in supplying “fascist forces in Ukraine with military communications.”

“”And for this you will have to answer in an adult way, Elon, no matter how you turn on the fool,” Rogozin warned.

The severity of the threat, of course, Musk scoffed with the taunting tweet. However, the US government may respond differently.

Here are some reactions from social media:
