Galaxy Watch updates coming in July 2024
Samsung’s latest innovation in the wearable technology sector introduces a new BioActive Sensor for the Galaxy Watch.
This updated sensor is designed to provide more precise health insights by incorporating improvements in photodiodes and an expanded range of light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
The enhanced photodiodes have doubled in performance, reducing the number needed from eight to four, which allowed for additional space to include a variety of LEDs in Blue, Yellow, Violet, and Ultraviolet, alongside increased numbers of Green, Red, and Infrared LEDs.
These enhancements enable the sensor to offer more accurate measurements of key health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure, and blood oxygen levels.
Notably, heart rate measurements during intensive workouts are now 30% more accurate compared to previous models. The inclusion of diverse LED colours allows for better prediction of health trends and facilitates proactive steps for preventative care.
Among the new features is the Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) Index, an indicator of metabolic health and biological ageing.
This index provides insights into an individual’s biological age influenced by lifestyle and dietary habits, helping users make informed decisions about their wellness journey.
This AGEs Index, along with other advanced features, will be available on the upcoming Galaxy Watch series, promising more sophisticated and intelligent health and wellness tools to help users achieve their health goals.
How to update Galaxy Watch
Updating the Galaxy Watch to access these new features is a straightforward process.
Users should ensure their watch is fully charged and connected to Wi-Fi. From the Galaxy Wearable app on their paired smartphone, they can check for updates under the “Watch software update” section.
If an update is available, users can follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
During the update, it is crucial to keep the watch connected to the smartphone and ensure it remains on the charger to prevent any interruptions.
Once the installation is complete, the watch will restart, and the new features will be accessible.
