EA Sports has revealed a range of exciting new features and changes for FC 25, set to enhance gameplay and community experience based on player feedback.
‘EA Sports FC 25’ patch notes: Here’s everything you must know
FOOTBALL ULTIMATE TEAM
Division Rivals Checkpoints
To improve the matchmaking experience, EA Sports has reduced the overall number of checkpoints in Division Rivals.
This change aims to ensure players face opponents of similar skill levels, with relegation reintroduced in the highest divisions to maintain competitive balance.
Division Rivals Rewards
Rewards qualification in Rivals now relies on points rather than wins, with points awarded for both wins and draws.
This adjustment allows players to progress towards weekly rewards through consistent performance.
Rivals Legacy Division Placement
Progress from FC 24 will carry over to FC 25, with players starting in Rivals based on their highest division achieved previously. This helps players reach appropriate divisions faster and ensures new players avoid facing highly skilled veterans early on.
Live Football Ultimate Team Friendlies
Matchmaking in Friendlies will now be based on win form, creating a more balanced and casual environment for experimenting with new squads and tactics.
SBC Storage
A new storage system for untradable duplicate players allows up to 100 items to be stored and easily recalled for Squad Building Challenges.
Evolution Requirements
Evolution requirements have been made less restrictive, enabling more frequent upgrades of Player Items.
Contracts: Player Items and Managers no longer require contracts, allowing for quicker return to gameplay.
GAMEPLAY
Goalkeeper Movement
Manual goalkeeper movement is now limited to 1-2 steps in any direction with a cooldown period, preventing overuse. During set pieces, goalkeeper movement will function as before until the ball is in play.
Corner Kick Support Assignments
Three new assignments (Target Player, Near Post, Back Post) have been added, allowing for more strategic positioning during corners.
CLUBS
- Relegation: Relegation returns to Clubs League, with teams participating in a do-or-die match to determine if they stay in their current division or move down.
- Store: Clubs Coins earned via gameplay can be spent in the new Clubs Store on cosmetic items for Virtual Pro, including new item types like gloves and sleeves.
- Post-Match Timer: Players can now stay longer in the post-match menu to review highlights and stats without being forced back to the lobby.
- Max Height: The maximum height for all player positions has been capped at 6’5” to address gameplay balance.
- Clubs League Matchmaking: Matchmaking will prioritize finding clubs of similar skill ratings to ensure balanced matches.
CAREER MODES
- Match Intros: Full authentic pre-match intros, including player walk-ins and line-ups, have been reintroduced. Players can opt to skip these intros if desired.
- Youth Academy: Scouting updates allow access to over 160 countries and the ability to scout up to four positions simultaneously, enhancing the search for future stars.
- Customisation: Enhanced customisation options at the start of a career offer extensive control over gameplay experience, including weather impact and CPU AI behaviour.
- Morale System: The morale system has been refined, with excessively high morale now potentially leading to complacency and negatively affecting mental attributes.
More detailed updates on various modes will be shared in upcoming FC 25 Deep Dives, including gameplay, Ultimate Team, and Clubs. Players can look forward to the EA Play Early Access
The Ultimate Edition trial starts on 20 September 2024, with the official release of the Standard Edition on 27 September 2024.
