‘The Final Shape’ represents the culmination of a decade of storytelling in the Destiny universe, set to release on Tuesday, 4 June 2024.
This expansion aims to conclude the epic “Light and Darkness” saga, where players will confront the Witness, the franchise’s primary antagonist.
The campaign will take players into the heart of the Traveller, a celestial being central to Destiny’s lore, as they strive to stop the Witness from executing its plan to calcify and destroy all life.
The expansion introduces a new subclass called “Prismatic,” which allows players to combine and use both Light and Darkness abilities. This subclass features unique abilities and a supercharged mode called “Transcendence,” offering enhanced combat capabilities.
Players will also encounter a new enemy race called the Dread, which includes various enemy types like Grims and Husks, each presenting unique combat challenges.
‘The Final Shape’ will add a new free-roam destination, the Pale Heart, within the Traveller, offering areas influenced by previous Destiny locations.
The expansion will also include a new raid set in the Witness’s monolith and two new dungeons to be released during the episodic content updates throughout the year.
The new campaign mode will feature a Legendary difficulty level, providing upgraded rewards for players who complete it. These rewards include exclusive gear and weaponry designed to reflect the player’s achievement in overcoming significant challenges.
Additionally, ‘The Final Shape’ will introduce several gameplay enhancements, such as changes to the Power level system and the reintroduction of previously sunset weapons.
A new weapon enhancement system for non-craftable weapons will allow players to upgrade their gear with enhanced perks.
The Pathfinder system will consolidate bounties, patrols, and weekly challenges into a streamlined objective-based progression system, offering players more efficient ways to earn rewards
The expansion will also see the return of exotic class items, last seen in the original Destiny’s final expansion.
These items will be tailored to work with the new Prismatic subclass, offering new opportunities for build customisation and combat strategy.
