Confusion has spread across the political realm in Zimbabwe after a prominent Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa was arrested by a team of armed police officers as he was conducting a press conference, on Thursday.
Watch: Zim MP arrested during press conference
The controversial Norton MP, according to New Zimbabwe, was engaged in a briefing with more than a dozen press members when armed officials wearing masks stormed into his Harare home.
At this time, no concrete reason for the arrest has been issued by the police in Borrowdale.
“We are not commenting on the this until we speak to him (Mliswa),” one senior officer told journalists.
Here is footage of the arrest that’s since spread on social media:

Who is Temba Mliswa?
Mliswa is a breakaway offspring of the Zanu-PF. The Norton MP recently made headlines over his publicised breakup with his former Australian-based lover Susan Mutami.
The MP’s ex has been dishing out a slew of allegations against Mliswa, much of which has caught the attention of the Zimbabwean government.
Mutami has accused the legislator of corruption and made wild claims about Mliswa’s alleged homosexuality.
Perhaps, the most damning claim came when Mutami accused Mliswa of attempting to poison one of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sons.
These claims, however, remain untested. At the time this article was published, the MP was still in the custody of Borrowdale police.
