News coming in from TMZ suggests that New York rapper Pop Smoke, aged 20, has been killed in an apparent home invasion.
Who killed Pop Smoke?
Details around the murder of the rapper are still sketchy, however, early reports indicate that Pop Smoke was targeted and killed in a Los Angeles Hollywood Hills home owned by Edwin Arroyave — Teddi Mellencamp’s husband — in the wee hours of Wednesday morning (Pacific Time).
Video footage showing a team of EMS rescuers pulling Pop Smoke’s body on a stretcher has since gone viral on social media. It is believed that efforts to resuscitate the rapper were futile as he was pronounced dead on his way to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in West Hollywood.
Law enforcement authorities have yet to issue out a formal statement on the merits of the investigation. However, sources close to the police department indicate that CCTV footage showed at least three armed men involved in the homicide.
It is believed they fleed on foot.
Sources also alleged that there may have been a party — or at the very least a gathering — at the home prior to his murder.
Tributes pour in for murdered rising star
His peers, including the likes of Nicki Minaj, have been rocked by the news and posted tributes following confirmation of Pop Smoke’s death.
