What a sight it must have been, to cast your eyes ahead on the N2 highway in KZN’s leafy Umhlali, and see a harras of horses running freely, their hinds strutting ferociously on the asphalt.
Watch: Horses take over N2 highway in Umhlali
Motorists in the Durban region were treated to this rare encounter, on Wednesday afternoon. About 20 horses had somehow ended up on the moderately busy highway and motorists, astonished by what they were seeing, were forced to the furthest right side of the road.
While it’s ill-advised, one motorist recorded the incident as they drove along the highway, steering clear from the team of horses. The clip starts with a white-coated stud strutting between vehicles and a truck.
It was trying its best to keep up with its team that was gaining momentum a hundred-some metres away. The clip ends shortly after the recording vehicle passes the harras.
At this time, no updates have surfaced on the outcome of the bizarre encounter.
