Canadian crooner Kid Cudi caught cans to the face in the midst of his performance at the Miami edition of the Rolling Loud Festival, and the entire ordeal was captured on camera.
Watch: Kid Cudi booed off Rolling Loud Miami stage
Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, stepped up in the 11th hour to replace Kanye ‘Ye’ West as the main headliner on Friday. While fans who’d spent thousands of dollars to see the Yeezy founder return to Rolling Loud for a complete set, some found resolve in Cudi being the replacement act.
In a statement to Billboard, organisers had this to say about Ye’s abrupt cancellation.
“We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022. We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately, Ye has decided that he will no longer be performing. This is the first time a headliner has ever pulled off our show and though we don’t take it lightly, we wish him the best. We look forward to welcoming Kid Cudi as a headliner in Miami and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
Dealing with a tough crowd is part of a musician’s repertoire. So, it wasn’t an uncommon sight when Cudi had to duck objects flung at him during his performance.
After all, the ongoing feud between him and Ye may have exacerbated things. But, what Cudi may not have expected was a bottle of water clobbering his face.
Fans in the crowd caught footage of the culprit who drew Cudi’s last straw.
Here’s how social media reacted
As if the night could not get any worse, Lil Durk, who surfaced on the stage after Cudi’s dramatic exit, brought out the same person who, at the last minute, pulled out of the festival.
To rub salt in Cudder’s wounds, a masked Ye sent the crowd into pandemonium with a performance of Father Stretch My Hands from his The Life of Pablo album, which, by the way, features a prominent chorus performed by Cudi.
