Famed sportscaster Andile Ncube appeared as a guest on DJ Naves’ and Sphectacula’s podcast, The Kings Cast, and had nothing but kind things to say about his former colleague Bonang Matheba.
What Andile Ncube said about Bonang Matheba
Matheba has had a whirlwind of a week or two on social media, following her public dispute with her former business partner and CSA Global executive Davin Phillips.
So, it was refreshing to hear nothing but positives from Ncube, who reflected on the first time he met Matheba all those years ago.
According to Ncube, at the time, he was a producer of the Live Amp music show on SABC 1 and had met Matheba walking out of Urban Brew studios that day.
She had impressed at an audition for the Lotto broadcast but, in Ncube’s own words, Matheba was 19 years old at the time, a little too young to host a gambling show.
“The image of her looking up, smiling and waving, saying ‘hi’ and walking away, never left. Two days later, I started asking everybody in the company, who was that girl? Literally, who was that girl? Until somebody said, no she was a girl that was coming to audition for the Lotto.
“I went to the guy that produced the Lotto and the guy said, no man, she’s too young, she’s 19, we can’t have her. I said, can I please have all her details. To cut a long story short, that’s how Bonang got on,” Ncube recalled.
Ncube went on to applaud Matheba for the feats she has since achieved in her long-spanning career in media.
“[I] love speaking about her, if I ever write a book [Bonang] will be a fulfilling chapter,” Ncube wrote in a tweet.
The tweet from Ncube reached Matheba who responded with: “love you soooooo much.”
