“The estimated time of restoration is currently not available. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes,” the power utility noted in a statement.
This ongoing disruption follows efforts by the utility to address similar outages in other parts of Johannesburg, including Klipspruit, where electricity supply was recently restored.

Eskom suspends potential City of Joburg grid disconnection
In a related development, Eskom announced that it has suspended a notice under the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA) that threatened to disconnect the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) and City Power (CP) from the national grid.
The suspension comes as the Minister of Electricity and Energy oversees an independent investigation into Eskom’s claims of historical overbilling amounting to R3.4 billion.
Initially expected by Monday, 25 November 2024, the report deadline was extended to Friday, 6 December 2024.
To secure the suspension of the PAJA notice, CoJ and CP were required to pay Eskom R1.4 billion for the September invoice.
However, they only paid R1.3 billion and have yet to settle the R1.3 billion October invoice, which was due on Friday, 29 November 2024. CoJ and CP committed to making another payment by Friday.
Eskom stated that it would continue to support the investigation led by the independent expert and the Minister of Electricity and Energy, pledging further updates as developments unfold.
