Former Metro FM radiocaster Pearl Modiadie has a sexual harassment lawsuit against the station’s manager, Anthony Soglo coming up in court, and it seems, the SABC has taken a side in the matter.
SABC wants Pearl Modiadie sex harassment case off the roll
Per City Press, the media personality, who made headlines recently about dating rumours with Andile Cube, will face off with her former line manager at the Johannesburg High Court, on Monday 16 May 2022.
The matter relates to an email exchange recorded in November 2019, where Soglo made — what the 34-year-old believes — was a suggestive comment in a group chat.
“Yo…since we are there…can I also get asked that question?? LOL!!! When do you need Pearl and for how long?? Go Tumza… pimpsta of the year!!! Hahahaha…sorry guys…that was funny!” the text message, seen by the cited publication, read.
The text, it’s revealed, was related to a private booking Modiadie had in the pipeline for an appearance at an event in Bloemfontein, Free State.
From what we understand, Modiadie’s assertion is that she was sexually violated, defamed and portrayed as a ‘call girl’.
The radiocaster, who has since found greener pastures at KayaFM, has filed a claim against the SABC too, accusing the public broadcaster of failing to apply its sexual harassment policy after she’d submitted a formal complaint.
However, the state-owned media company has no intentions of entertaining Modiadie’s cries. Instead, the SABC asserts that the former Metro FM host is using the wrong channels to seek justice.
“The plaintiff is in the wrong forum as the complaint should have been referred to the CCMA, following an unsuccessful internal grievance procedure. In this circumstance, the plaintiff’s claim, as against the first defendant, stands to be dismissed with costs,” SABC wrote in a statement.
Modiadie had not responded to our queries for comment at the time this article was published.
