Oscar Mbo deactivates Twitter account following scam claims

Instead of addressing the allegations, Oscar Mbo took the high road.

Revered Deep House DJ Oscar Mbo is trending for all the wrong reasons on social media and, instead of dealing with the public relations mess, the producer opted to hit the high road and deactivate his Twitter account.

Pretoria-based DJ and promoter Archie sent social media into a raucous when he posted screenshots of a text exchange he had with Mbo’s manager, a woman only identified as Yolisa.

From what we understand, Archie had allegedly paid the booking fee to have Mbo play a set at his event Hammanskraal that took place on 27 December 2021. However, in the 11th hour, the producer’s manager noted Mbo would not be able to make it to the event.

In the text exchange, Yolisa proposes an alternative. Instead of a full refund, Mbo would honour Archie with a two-hour set on another date. However, this never materialised, and even worse, Archie claims his relentless pursuits for his money were met by hostility from Mbo’s camp.

The woman identified as Mbo’s manager was later seen in texts leaked by Archie after he had launched the exposΓ©, blasting the promoter for making the scam accusations public.

In this text exchange, Yolisa lambasts Archie for leaking their conversation and removes herself from accountability, claiming she had nothing to do with the R15 000 booking.

Except, messages she sent on 11 November 2021 suggest otherwise.

Mbo, for the most part, has said nothing about the scam accusations. The producer, instead, deactivated his Twitter account and has not been active on Instagram since Tuesday.

The booking scandal has since brought out a number of people who claim this is not the first time Mbo has been linked to controversy of this nature.
