It was a sad day for Amapiano on Monday, when it was confirmed that Mpura and Sakhile ‘Killer Kau’ Hlatshwayo had passed away.

Tributes to the fallen heroes of South Africa’s biggest music genre have been pouring in since the news of the duo’s untimely passing broke out.

Prince Kaybee, a fellow musician and House producer, also threw his weight behind the discussion around the manner in which Mpura and Killer Kau lost their lives.

According to reports, the two Amapiano artists, along with three other occupants which included Khanya ‘Tot’ Hadebe, were involved in a fatal crash on their way to a gig in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

In the midst of the grief that spread across social media, Kaybee was one of the voices that spoke out about the complexity of fate in instances such as these where many would agree were avoidable.

“It doesn’t mean if it happened it was meant to happen, we need to anticipate harm. Most things are man-made so you influence your destiny in many ways thats why prevention is chief,” he tweeted.

Of course, at a time when the country is grieving a great loss, this sentiment was not welcomed by some.

Kabza De Small clears the air about rumoured death

Another prominent Amapiano who was reportedly involved in the fatal crash was multi-SAMA award-winner Kabza De Small.

In the frenzy that followed news of the Amapiano artists’ deaths, fans believed that DBN Gogo and DJ Maphorisa’s tweets were somehow linked to Kabza’s rumoured involvement in the car crash.

However the producer quickly surfaced and quelled the fake news, stating that he was alive and well and was not part of the fatal trip to the gig.

At the time this article was published, the artists’ respective families had not released statements in reaction to the untimely deaths that will change the face of Amapiano forever.
