The Miss South Africa (Miss SA) 2021 pageant contest has kicked off for this year and already, the Top 30 has been announced.

Social media was abuzz with factions roaring for their pageant hopeful, when the Top 30 finalists were announced on Tuesday evening.
This year’s pickings offer a greater selection of diversity, a progressive step towards inclusion that is sure to send a stern message to the world about the standards of beauty.
Particularly, Miss SA’s acceptance of the first-ever transwoman to vie for the title was well-received when Lehlohonolo Machaba was included in the announcement.

What happens next?
Familiar faces like Miss SA 2019 Top 5 finalist Kgothatso Dithebe and 2017 hopeful Olin-Shae De La Cruz will know that this is only the start of a long journey to the crown.
With the Top 30 announced, the contestants will, for the next three weeks, have to “impress this year’s Top 30 and Top 10 judges who are all former Miss South Africa title holders.”
“Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala (2010) and Liesl Laurie (2015), who judged last year, being joined by first-time judges Melinda Bam (2011) and Tamaryn Green (2018),” the pageant group confirmed.
A wide-ranging criteria will be used to pick the Top 10. However, Miss SA 2021 finalists have an edge at this stage of the competition. Fans will now be allowed to cast votes for their favourite pageant hopeful, with lines open from Tuesday 6 July until Wednesday 21 July 2021.
Miss SA 2021: How to vote for Top 10
It is important to note that voting is not free. This year’s public influence in determining the Top 10 will cost between R5 and R100, depending on your bundle of choice.
With regards to the latter, each Top 30 finalist has a unique numerical identifier that is linked to the votes she receives and the public uses it to cast votes in bundles of;
- R5 for one vote;
- R20 for five votes;
- R50 for 12 votes; and
- R100 for 25 votes.
These bundle purchases can only be assigned to one pageant hopeful and “cannot be split between different contestants.
There are two ways to cast a vote for your favourite pageant hopeful:

Visit the Miss SA Top 30 finalists landing page. Once you have located your favourite pageant hopeful, you need to click on their profile. This will send you to a Computicket checkout page where you will have to confirm a few details and finalise your ‘order’ using your credit card.
At any grocery store’s Money Market
Fans can also go to any Money Market and use the contestant’s unique numerical identifier to cast their vote. The vote will be cast by the cashier on Computicket and a receipt with the order information will be handed back to you.
