South African media personality Minnie Dlamini sent social media into a frenzy when, on Tuesday, she confirmed her divorce to husband Quinton Jones.
Minnie Dlamini files for divorce: Here’s what we know
Dlamini’s two-year stint as the wife of business magnate Jones was always muddied with murmurs of instability. Those with a reliable memory will remember how, at the start of lockdown in South Africa, the 31-year-old wished to spend quarantine alone, hinting at trouble in her marriage.

The couple welcomed their first child a year later, but it seems, their valiant attempts at forging a healthy relationship were futile.
In a statement released on social media, Dlamini confirmed the tribulations of the last two years outweighed their will to keep forging ahead.
“After months of separation and consultations with our family and a counsellor, we have taken the decision to officially file for divorce,” Dlamini revealed.
The revered broadcaster did not go into further detail about the reason behind her decision to end the marriage. However, she did confirm that Jones remains a friend, business partner, and father of their son.
“This was a difficult decision to come to and even more heartbreaking to have to announce. In the wake of this news, we ask that you please grant us privacy during this difficult time,” Dlamini pleaded.
Dlamini and Jones have known each other for more than 10 years. The pair worked as colleagues at Urban Brew Studios in 2010 and often partied together.
“He was one of those friends where I’d be like in the club, and I’d be partying, and he would be like, ‘I think we should go home now,’ and I would be like, ‘why?’ and I would say, ‘okay, dad.’ Our friendship grew and grew,” Dlamini said in an interview with Wedding ETC.
The couple’s platonic friendship quickly took off thereafter and in July 2017, after a few years of dating, Dlamini tied the knot with the former footballer.
Together, they have a son, Netha Makhosini Jones.
