Megan Thee Stallion will finally get to grow her fanbase in K-Pop after a recent court challenge with her record label saw her win the rights to release her Butter remix by Korean group BTS.
Megan Thee Stallion reacts to Butter court victory
Handling her wins like a true Texas thoroughbred, Megan paid no attention to feeding the buzz around 1501 Certified Entertainment’s court loss.
Instead, the Houston rapper announced the release date to her guest appearance on BTS’ Butter remix, which is scheduled to hit digital streaming platforms (DSPs) on Friday 27 August 2021.
1501 Certified Entertainment issues response
From what we understand, Megan had approached the courts after numerous attempts were made by label CEO Carl Crawford and his handlers to prevent the rapper from releasing her much-anticipated remix with the global megastar K-Pop group.
In leaked court documents, the WAP rapper’s team argued that if the song was not released as scheduled, for reasons not sufficiently argued by the record label, “her music career will suffer irreparable damage, including a devastating impact to her relationships with her fans and with other recording artists in the music industry.”
“Such irreparable injury to her personal goodwill and the silencing of her artistic expression in music cannot be compensated in the way of monetary damages. As such, [Megan] Pete seeks emergency relief from this Court.”
As things turned out, Megan got her way — once again — with the courts. Remember, the same decision was reached by a court in March 2020 when she wanted to drop her Suga EP.
Reacting to the heckling that followed the court ruling, Crawford took to instagram to make a mockery of Megan’s victory.
“Even when I lose, I still win. Don’t let that get over y’all head,” he wrote in an Instagram Story.”
Megan’s legal battle against her record label is still ongoing, as she continues to break free from a record deal that, at one point in her life, was a dream-come-true.
