After 18 years playing the role of the unscrupulous Tau Mogale, Rapulana Seiphemo has announced that he is leaving Generations: The Legacy to join his fellow ‘Moroka’ relative Connie Ferguson on The Queen.
Rapulana Seiphemo bids farewell to Generations.
Seiphemo has been the most loyal and devoted cast member of the long-running soapie. He opted to stay during the infamous mass exodus.
He chose to stay on Mfundi Mvundla’s side when the show’s creator was lambasted by former actors for withholding residual monies.
Seiphemo never cast his eye away from his role as Tau, even when better opportunities were dangled in his face.
However, in his own words, it was hard to turn down the opportunity to share the screen with his long-time friend, Ferguson, on The Queen, a show written and produced by her company, Ferguson Films.
According to Briefly.co.za, it took a number of discussions to sway him in the other direction.
“Connie is like a sister to me. I respect her hard work and professionalism… they presented a compelling case that enticed me to consider their proposal. But, it was only after several discussions and meetings that I was convinced to join,” he said.
How will Tau be written off the script?
At this time, it is not clear how Generations will kill off Tau, neither does Seiphemo. However, he knows for sure that it will be a dramatic exit that will match the legacy of the character.
“I’m not yet done shooting with Generations but will soon start my stint on The Queen. I’m not sure how the grand exit will be, only the writers know, but I’m sure it’ll leave jaws on the floor. I love Generations. It’s been my home for many years… Tau was part of me for many years and anything is possible in the acting world,” he added.
