Former One Direction band member Liam Payne is the butt of ridicule on social media, following his comments about Zayn Malik on the Impaulsive Show hosted by brothers, Logan and Jake Paul.
Here’s what Liam Payne said about Zayn Malik
What was supposed to be a reflective episode on the thrills of being part of the historic feats achieved by the British boy band, quickly escalated into a PR nightmare for Payne, who was once bandmates with Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.
Malik was the first to isolate from the group and pursue a solo career in 2015, and the rest of the mates followed gradually thereafter.
Turns out, Payne has harboured conflicted feelings for Malik and it all surfaced when Jake brought up his feud with the former One Direction bandmate from 2020.
Back then, Malik’s former partner Gigi Hadid had chimed in on the Twitter feud, bigging up her man as a “respectful king”, and reflecting on this, Payne sent the room into cackles when he said: “That one didn’t age very well.”
On his relationship with Malik, Payne candidly put it like this:
“If I had had to go through what he went through — with his growth and whatever else… My parents are overly supportive to the point where it’s annoying at times. Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense,” he said.
Payne added that while he will always find ways to side with Malik, some of the things he’s done in the past, although he has a better understanding of the former bandmate’s background, he can’t support.
“Listen, I don’t agree with any of his actions. I can’t commend some of the things that he’s done. I can’t be on his side for that What I can say is I understand and your only hope is that at some point in their life, the person at the other end of the phone wants to receive the help that you’re willing to give them,” he added.
