Comedy Central‘s roast of South African media personality and actress Khanyi Mbau is the next top draw event that has social media talking.
Khanyi Mbau comedy roast: Who are the guests?
Mbau will face a panel of her colleagues for an evening of cackles at the expense of her much-publicised career mishaps. For the first time, it will be Mbau’s turn to face a lashing from celebrity mates on her colourful relationship history, and more recently, the Dubai scandal that sent shockwaves across social media.
The lineup of special guests will be rolled out on a weekly basis, in the build-up to the event, which takes place at Montecasino in Johannesburg, on Thursday 21 July 2022.
Comedian and Mbau’s former co-host on Mzansi Magic‘s Ayeye Mpho Popps has been unveiled as the show’s Roast Master. Speaking on the acquisition, vice president of Comedy Central Africa Dillon Khan described Popps’ return to the gig as “a natural fit”.
“He was first introduced to our audiences on Comedy Central Live @ Parkers. He did the opening set for the ‘Roast of Somizi’ and had an amazing performance. So him being the Roastmaster is a natural fit – a bit like the chemistry between him and Khanyi that is guaranteed to be electrifying,”
🚨 It’s official 🚨 I am the RoastMaster for the #RoastOfKhanyi 🥳
