Shamed Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey will appear before a court in London, UK, on Thursday, to make submissions in defence of four counts of sexual assault.
Kevin Spacey heads to court for sexual assault
As reported by Page Six, the former House of Cards actor will travel to the British capital to register his plea. In a statement he released to Good Morning America, Spacey made it clear he “will voluntarily appear in the U.K. as soon as can be arranged and defend myself against these charges.”
“I very much appreciate the Crown Prosecution Service’s statement in which they carefully reminded the media and the public that I am entitled to a fair trial, and innocent until proven otherwise,” Spacey said.
The decision to register sexual assault charges against Spacey comes after London Metropolitan Police concluded a probe into allegations made by three males between the ages of 30 and 40.
According to evidence gathered thus far, the alleged incidents of sexual assault occurred between March 2005 and April 2013. During that period, Spacey was an artistic director at London’s Old Vic Theatre in London.
The disgraced actor was questioned on the allegations in 2019 and since then, he’s upheld his innocence.
While Spacey has been living openly as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community since 2017, he has vehemently denied ever soliciting unwanted sexual advances toward the three alleged victims.
The two-time Oscar winner will make his first court appearance at London’s Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday, 16 June 2022.
