Rap billionaire Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, enjoyed a good day in a Los Angeles (LA) court, on Tuesday, when a judge approved his name change application.
Why did Kanye West change his name to Ye?
Sure, the internet’s focus has purely been on a bizarre hairstyle the 44-year-old showed off in Sweden this week.

However, closer to his heart was the court decision that allowed him passage to be officially referred to as ‘Ye’, an eventuality he manifested back in 2018 when he tweeted:

I am YE
Speaking to The Fader back then, Ye explained that the full name bestowed upon him by his mother, Donda, had fulfilled its purpose and now, in his early 40s, he saw himself as an embodiment of everyone.
“I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means ‘you,’ So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us,” he said.
In other news: Ye gets internet talking over his masks
Apart from the dicey hairstyle that’s spawned an entirely bizarre trend on social media, or the fact that, by virtue of the name change Kim Kardashian-West has now inherited a dilemma related to the validity of her hyphenated last name, Ye has caused a lot of furore over his recent choice of face masks.
At a recent meeting with renowned Trump ally Michael Cohen, the Donda rapper was seen wearing this prosthetic face mask:

The 44-year-old was also seen walking around the streets of Venice, Italy, donning a mask inspired by Fantômas.

It’s unclear what the rap billionaire has up his sleeves but his recent globetrotting has left many wondering about things to come from Ye.
