Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye finally resurfaced days after he was accused of sexual assault and attempted murder by actress Amanda Du-Pont.
Jub Jub issues apology to Amanda Du-Pont
In a statement published on his social media pages, the suspended Uyajola 9/9 host reflected on his toxic showing on a recent episode of MacG’s controversial Podcast and Chill and admitted that he had crossed the line in sharing intimate details of his sexual affair with the former Skeem Saam actress.
“It was inappropriate for me to discuss the intimate details of my relationship with Ms Du-Pont in public. I deeply regret the incident,” he wrote.
Jub Jub publicly apologised to the actress for the humiliation and hurt he caused her, adding that the apology extends to his fans.
“I also apologise to my fans and the public for the inappropriate language I used during the interview,” he added.
Maarohanye confirms he’s taking legal action against Du-Pont
The Ndikhokhele star’s public apology comes after mounted pressure from women’s rights activist groups and female leaders who’ve called for his cancellation. Women For Change SA, in a statement, launched a ‘Mute Jub Jub’ campaign, challenging the entertainment industry to take decisive action against the man accused of raping Du-Pont, broadcaster and spokesperson Masechaba Khumalo, and fellow songstress and cousin Bonokuhle Mtsweni.
“Still this man has a career as a South African media personality and Hip-Hop artist and is given a safe space on ‘Podcast with MacG to discuss his abuse! It’s disgusting and sickening – So once again let’s use the power of social media and get this man muted and back into jail! Justice needs to be served!” the activist group wrote
It seems, however, that Jub Jub is not taking the sexual abuse allegations lightly. The rapper confirmed, in his statement, that he has since taken the matter up with his legal team.
“With regard to the accusations levelled against me by Amanda and others I have decided to make room for the law to take its course and I request that the media and the public doe the same,” he said.
