The Joe Biden inauguration is finally here and the United States (US) is ready to commence the healing process after four toxic years under the rule of President Donald Trump.
Important information about the inauguration
This year’s proceedings will be different. Biden and his wife, incoming First Lady Jill, will spend the night at Blair House, a high-end property that sits opposite the White House.
On Wednesday morning, the incoming leadership, will attend Mass at St Matthews church and political leaders from the Democrats and Republicans are expected to make a bipartisan showing, marking the start of the path to unifying a widely divided nation.
Following this, Biden and Harris will meet at the Capitol, where two weeks ago, Trump supporters made history for all the wrong reasons.
The inauguration will take place without an audience for the first time in American history. This sacrifice, Biden made to show his people how serious this pandemic is, a stark contrast to Trump’s nonchalance.
After Biden and Harris have been sworn in, Biden will lead a small group of leaders to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
