Jesse Powell biography
Jesse Powell was born on 12 September 1971 in Gary, Indiana. He was the eldest of four children, the renowned R&B duo Trina and Tamara, as well as Jacob.
Powell was raised in a home of singers. In the early 90s, he and his sisters partook in local talent shows, and in 1993, Powell was discovered by masterful producer Carl Roland in Kansas City, Missouri.
Roland took Powell under his wing, and this relationship was crucial in his development. Through Roland, Powell met Louil Silas and this encounter culminated in his first record deal with Silas Records.
By 1996, Powell had been groomed into a potential star. His first single, All I Need, peaked at no. 32 on the Billboard US R&B chart.
The moderately successful commercial performance of the lead single spawned the release of his debut album, Jesse Powell, which peaked at an impressive no. 35 on the Billboard Top 200 US Albums chart.
Powell released three more albums between 1996 and 2003, seeing less commercial success at every attempt. It seems the buck stopped 19 years ago, but Powell had already carved a name for himself as one of R&B music’s hidden gems.
No information is available on Powell’s relationship history or whether he is survived by any children. The veteran musician died in his LA home a day after celebrating his 51st birthday.
He was 51.
