US rapper Freddie Gibbs surfaced on social media with his face seemingly swollen and according to reports, this is the result of a fiery encounter with mates of fellow MC Benny The Butcher.
Was Freddie Gibbs assaulted in Buffalo?
As reported by popular Hip-Hop media platform No Jumper, the Alfredo star was reportedly caught in a bout of fisticuffs with associates of the Griselda artists in his hometown, Buffalo, the same New York town that hosted the Tops Friendly Market massacre perpetrated by white supremacist Payton Gendron.

Details around the incident are still very sketchy at this time, but it’s believed Gibbs was in Buffalo for a show, and in the hours leading up to the performance, he reportedly had a ‘swell’ run-in with goons linked to Benny.
A Twitter user who claims to have witnessed the entire incident claims to have video footage of the reported pummelling. Although, at this juncture, the only evidence of the alleged assault are these images of Gibbs at the event, where his face is visibly bruised, further indication that he may have been beaten up after all.
Rumours of a rift between Benny and Gibbs first surfaced in late September 2021, when Gibbs posted a subliminal tweet about how it’s hard for him “to listen to n***** after they got robbed.”
Of course, the tweet came a few months after Benny was shot in the leg, in a frightening robbery that took place in Houston, Texas.
The back-and-forth bickering between the two went on for months thereafter, both making it abundantly clear that future collaborations are, as things stand, out of the question.
Benny and Gibbs, before the feud, met up on two classic Hip-Hop songs:
- Frank Lucas on Gibbs’ Alfredo; and
- One Way Flight on Benny’s Burden of Proof.
