Upon their arrival, they found both vehicles had collided at the junction and then veered off the roadway, eventually coming to rest on the sidewalks.
According to ALS Paramedics, there were about 20 people on the bus who sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.
Emergency personnel, including the Ethekwini Fire Department, were called in to assist with the casualties.
Once stabilised, the injured were transported to various hospitals in Durban for further care.
Tragically, a man and a woman, both believed to be in their thirties, were found in the bakkie with severe injuries.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, they were declared dead at the scene.
