Veteran comedian Dave Chappelle drew ire from the gay community when audio from a show he did in April 2022 leaked on social media, where he was heard making wild statements about Lil Nas X.
Dave Chappelle goes in on Lil Nas X in leaked audio
Chappelle is no stranger to controversy, especially concerning his ongoing feud with the LGBTQIA+ community. Well, the audio leak dug up by the queer publication Queerty surely did the job in sowing further divisions between the ‘alphabet’ gang and the comedian.
In the audio snippet, taken from his Netflix is a Joke comedy festival from April 2022, Chappelle was heard blasting the Industry Baby as a “promiscuous f*g”.
“I don’t like Lil Nas X. It’s not because he’s gay; it’s because he’s slutty,” he said, sending the audience into raucous laughter.
Of course, in all likelihood, Chappelle’s comments may have been in jest, but fans of the pop star certainly did not take it lightly, especially considering the comedian’s reputation as transphobic.
Here is the leaked audio, where Chappelle claims to like “respectable, marriage-minded homosexuals, not these promiscuous f*gs in Hollywood.”

Chappelle’s LGBTQIA+ material has landed him in dangerous encounters in the recent past. In May 2022, the comedian was attacked on stage at a show in Hollywood, by 23-year-old Isaiah Lee who identifies as bisexual. Speaking in an interview with The Post following the viral incident, Lee admitted he attacked Chappelle because he “wanted him to know what he said was triggering.”
“I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect,” Lee admitted.
Lee is facing misdemeanour charges for the attack.
