An inquest is underway to determine the events that led to a shooting at the residence of renowned rapper DaBaby, where a victim was injured.
DaBaby shooting: Here’s what we know
According to reports, the Troutman police department, in North Carolina, received a distress call from DaBaby’s residence at around 19:45 on Wednesday evening.
The caller informed Iredell County’s 911 responders that someone had been shot and, apparently, the incident “occurred near the football field on the property.”
Law enforcement and emergency medical services rushed to the scene and a victim was discovered with “a non-life-threatening wound to the lower extremity.”
The unidentified victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care and, according to reports, DaBaby has not been placed under arrest.
In fact, reports suggest it may have been the rapper who contacted authorities and sources close to the situation claim he apparently refused to adhere to a specific instruction given to him to secure his weapon before responders arrived at the scene.
It’s believed, at this stage, the rapper was in fear of encountering more alleged intruders.
At this time, a probe is underway to determine the identity of the victim, his or her reasons for being inside the residence of the rapper and, most importantly, who pulled the trigger.
This is not DaBaby’s first fiery encounter, where he was identified as the shooter. In 2018, the rapper was let off on a misdemeanour for carrying a concealed weapon after he shot and killed a teenager inside a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina.
CCTV footage from inside the store would exonerate DaBaby from murder charges after it was determined that he acted out of self-defence.
This is a developing story.
