Amapiano artist Busta 929 released a fiery statement, on Saturday, following accusations levelled against him by his protege Mgiftoz Entertainer.
Mgiftoz Entertainer accuses Busta 929 of exploitation
The up-and-coming Amapiano performer took to his Facebook page in great distress, informing his fans of his dire financial situation, in a heartbreaking post:
“I mean I work my a** out on most trending songs, not even getting the credit I deserve. [There] are people up until today who don’t know [I] am the vocalist behind ‘Sdudla no Slenda’, ‘Vandam’, ‘Sgodo’, ‘Yuriboyka’, ‘Nompumelelo’ and etc. [I] am writing this in tears [because] I mean I have a daughter that needs me full force as a father [and] here [I] am famous but with a low bank balance. What more about my mother she invested a lot on me wishing to see me successful and having enough money to take care of me if I can tell my whole story it won’t be nice,” he wrote.
To drive the point home about the dire state of his financial situation, Mgiftoz followed up with another post, showing a text exchange between him and the mother of his child, who was blasting him for failing to provide for their daughter.
Here’s how Busta responded
According to Busta, however, Ngiftoz’s statement was not only defamatory but also contained false accusations.
Busta, who’s garnered a bad reputation in the past for hanging out with underage girls, refuted claims that Mgiftoz was never credited for his contributions to the songs he listed above.
In fact, Busta said, one can simply visit the songs on any digital streaming service to see that, contrary to the accusations, Mgiftoz is credited as a feature and songwriter.
Busta also rubbished allegations that Mgiftoz was never paid what was due to him for his contributions. However, nowhere in the statement does Busta confirm whether Mgiftoz owns a portion of the songs’ royalties.
Instead, the Amapiano star has given his protege a short window to retract his accusations or face legal action.
It is unfortunate that I have to also address him on a public platform by issuing this letter as an effort to fix the damage he has caused or is causing. My legal team will make efforts to convey communication to him via his contacts for further remedial actions,” he wrote.
