Adele is rolling in the deep end of a public relations mess after sources involved with her Las Vegas show came forward with new information on the real reason behind her decision to pull the plug in the 11th hour.
Why did Adele cancel her Las Vegas show?
Last week Friday, the songstress made headlines after she released a video apologising to fans for the sudden cancellation of the much-anticipated event, citing a COVID-19 outbreak as the chief stinger.
“I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID, they still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show,” she exclaimed, barely able to contain her tears.
Fans, some who spent more than $9 000 (est. R138 000), per Daily Mail, were left with nothing more than a “more info coming soon,” note from their favourite songstress.
Turns out, at least from the knowledge of the production team working with the venue, Ceasar’s Palace, the abrupt cancellation had little to do with COVID-19 and more so to do with her insane list of demands.
From what we understand, the postponement came after Adele inspected the set design of a swimming pool intended for the show. According to sources, the Rolling in the Deep star was going to stand at the centre of the pool as it filled with water during her performance. Then, to give off the impression that she was ‘floating on water’, Adele was going to be lifted up on a crane-is mechanism.
This, however, was far from impressive, in Adele’s eyes. The singer, we believe, was also unhappy with the sound system at Caesar’s Palace, as well as the choir, among other things.
Ticketholders, some who’ve spent more than $30 000 (est. R460 000), have been asked to be patient and hold on to their receipts for future date announcements. However, an insider who spoke to Daily Mail suggests that Adele is not only fully booked in 2022, but that there are only two windows available for a rescheduling. If those two dates, for whatever reason, don’t work out, then Adele may only be able to host her Las Vegas show in 2023.
