An early glimpse into Morbius, Sony-Marvel’s upcoming origin story about a heroic villain, has teased a sighting of Venom and it looks more than likely that there is a crossover on the cards.
What is Morbius about?
Morbius is a living vampire portrayed by Jared Leto in the upcoming release. Dr Michael Morbius turns to vampire bat science in a desperate attempt to cure his life-long blood disease.
As reported by Movie Web, the movie was scheduled for a July 2020 release. However, due to the current state of world affairs, Morbius has since been moved to early 2021.
A cool Venom Easter egg spotted on movie set
The Leto-starring movie was in the process of reshoots in Manchester, UK, when the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak forced production to a halt.
Production teams, actors and support staff, along with the rest of the UK, have been forced to stay at home, leaving the movie set abandoned.
There is a bit of doom and gloom about the latter, no doubt. But, on the plus side, a fan was able to sneak inside the set and got a cool picture of a Venom Easter egg.
It is believed that Morbius will feature, in some capacity, an appearance from Eddie Brock (played by Tom Hardy). A look at this photo does very little to confirm the latter but at the very least, it reveals a humorous connection to the symbiote.
Is this the Tom Holland crossover we’ve been waiting for?
Murmurs have been growing loud about Spider-Man’s link to Morbius since the first trailer came out in January. Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with Peter Parker (played by Tom Holland) being framed as a murderer by his friend-turned-enemy Mysterio.
Coincidentally, towards the end of the Morbius trailer, we see the vampire doctor walking through an alley with posters of Spider-Man and the words “murderer” hung on the wall.
The suggestion that Holland could play a part in the upcoming origin story is confusing, but not improbable. We will have to wait and see.
