As we enter Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the list of movies being released over the next two years has been revealed. Although the new phase is a world without Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark and Chris Evans as Captain America, the MCU may need to assemble a new set of Avengers.
Marvel movies dropping in 2021
This movie list includes movies such as Black Widow (finally), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and so many more. Here’s the 2021 list:
Black Widow
Release Date: 9 July 2021
The initial release date was the first of May 2020, but because of the pandemic, it had to be pushed back according to Den of Geek. Natasha Romanoff – Black Widow is a bit of a flashback movie. Specifically, it’s bringing audiences back to Phase Three of the MCU, in the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War. In it, Romanoff heads back to the former Soviet Bloc, where her family is located.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Release Date: 3 September 2021
Not much is known about Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Only that The Ten Rings is the terrorist organization that abducted Tony Stark in Iron Man according to Marvel Movies Fandom. The Mandarin will also be brought to life in this movie, a long-awaited storyline.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Released Date: 17 September 2021
Venom: Let There be Carnage will follow up Sony’s 2018 Spider-Man spinoff film, but will likely be more connected to the MCU this time around, because of a renewed deal between the company and Marvel Studios partners according to Den of Geek. The movie will still include award-winning actor Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock.
The Eternals
Release Date: 5 November 2021
With their most exciting trailer yet, Marvel described the film as an “epic story, spanning thousands of years” and features “a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants” according to Tom’s Guide. There are ties into the MCU. Ego (Kurt Russel) from Guardians of The Galaxy Two, father of Peter Quill self-identified as a Celestial, that’s the kind of power we’re dealing with in the Eternals says Tom’s Guide. The cast includes Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, and Kit Harrington.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Release Date: 17 December 2021
The next Spider-Man movie looks like a big one, after the ending of the last Spider-Man: Far from Home, fans are definitely at the edge of their seats. Spider-Man was framed for the murder of Quentin Beck and needs to clear his name. Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro from the Amazing Spider-Man films and Alfred Molina will return from the Raimi era as Doctor Octopus according to Tom’s Guide.
