At this point in the lockdown, life Is as great as the net movie you’re going to watch. We’ve dug out five seriously cool and overlooked indie movies that you will undoubtedly enjoy.
How indie are you?
Of course, the latter is provided that you are a seeker, a term used in filmology (this is probably not true) to describe a person who spends most of their free time discovering enjoyable and quality indie movies.
This part of Hollywood is a shadow to the stuff produced by mega film studios. It functions on minimalism. Less is more. Most often, the letdown, from a commercial standpoint, is in the execution and marketing of an indie movie.
Independent studios like IFP Films are recognised for what they have been doing in the horror genre. Another small-scale production house with great titles is A24.
These studios are leading the front in producing films with depth and interesting storylines. Titles like VHS, Hereditary and Get Out.
If any of what we said above got your tummy tingling then you’re an indie hipster. It’s nothing to be shy about. If anything, it makes for a great icebreaker in social settings.

We’ve done some digging and pulled up five indie movies that you will undoubtedly enjoy.
Hostiles
Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army Captain (Christian Bale), who after stern resistance, reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back to tribal lands.
Under the Skin
The film is loosely based on the 2000 novel by Michel Faber. It stars Scarlett Johansson as an otherworldly woman who preys on men in Scotland.
Frances Ha
A story that follows a New York woman, who doesn’t really have an apartment. She apprentices for a dance company although she’s not really a dancer, and throws herself headlong into her dreams.
The Spectacular Now
The Spectacular Now is an adroit, sensitive film that avoids typical coming-of-age story trappings.
Roma
Roma captures, as well as any film I have seen, the spirit of “magical realism,” without ever hinting at the supernatural.
