Johannesburg lyrical genius, Yung Tyran, finally released his 7-track album titled Memento Mori which has left many fans impressed.
Memento Mori: What to expect from the album
The album brings us seven tracks that feature some of the best lyrical ability from the young artist who has the ability to tell his story through his music.
The rapper uses this project to reflect on the different moments in his life, how he overcame them and his desire to strive for success in the world of music.
Songs like Renaissance is a great example to truly understand the rappers mindset.
Tyran is also talented in the singing department, showcasing his vocal talent through tracks like Everything I Need and Redemption.
The beat selection for every track is perfect for the album, bringing us some of the most soulful beat production on the RnB tracks yet switching it up to more fun and exciting trap beats like the track Crescendo.
The project features only three guest appearances being the Zimbabwean talent SkyCityUno, the vocally talented Thando, and Skhanda World’s Loki.
The album is a great listening experience with its only downfall being its short runtime of just below 20 minutes, leaving many listeners begging for more.
Yung Tyran: The underdog of the rap game
Tyran, whose real name is Thamsanqa Silanda, has had a long career in the music scene starting as far back as 2009.
Throughout his career the rapper has released multiple bodies of work like his Inevitable End EP (2014), Better Late Than Never (2016), Golden Child (2019), Late Bloomer (2019), Zodiac (2020), and of course his new Memento Mori.
Tyran has also gone on to work alongside other established artists like Tembi Powers, LordNelle and probably his biggest collaboration being Flvme on the remix of I Say.
With his skill as a lyrical gem, Tyran has the true potential to compete with other African lyrical giants such as Nasty C, Huey Magicman, or even the biggest one of them all, Stogie-T.
