Black Coffee has done DJ Shimza a solid and hooked Ceega Wa Meropa up with a live performance
Why is Black Twitter cancelling DJ Shimza?
The up-and-coming DJ was berated and shamed on Twitter by the Lockdown House Party co-founder for soliciting an opportunity to feature on the Channel O show. Suffice it to say, Shimza did not handle that very well.
Celebrities chimed in, correcting the 35-year-old’s approach to handling something that’s a common occurrence in the life of a public figure.
Even EFF national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi reproached Shimza for his actions, pleading with Black Twitter “to support his great initiative meant to support all artists from all walks of life.”
In response to this, Shimza provided more context to the whole situation, claiming that at the time Ceega Wa Meropa had pleaded for an opportunity to get onto the Lockdown House Party lineup, it was too late.
“I work with various artists on all of my projects. Artists I look up to that guide me and artists that look up to me. The platform is for artists, but because of the lockdown limitations, it had to be prerecorded. there was no way of making any changes once the show was packaged,” he explained.
Black Coffee sets Ceega Wa Meropa up for the win
The DJ has since issued a formal apology to Meropa and while a bitter taste has been left in the mouths of many, life must hastily move on.
Well, turns out, the up-and-coming DJ’s misfortune was a blessing in disguise. Since he was berated on Twitter, Ceega Wa Meropa has been hooked up with multiple grand opportunities.
For one, Black Coffee tossed him with a live set on Africa Is Not A Jungle’s_ next online music event. Moreover, Gagasi FM, KwaZulu-Natal’s biggest commercial radio station, has offered Ceega Wa Meropa a month’s residency.
The butt of all of this, Shimza, will still feature on Saturday’s insert of the pre-recorded Lockdown House Party.
