The funeral of the Ukhozi FM broadcaster and businesswoman has been confirmed for this Saturday, 17 August 2024.
The service will begin at 09:00 at the ICC in Durban, followed by her burial at Marianhill in Pinetown.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at the GNF near Durban Station, starting at 12:00.
The event is expected to draw a large crowd, including her industry colleagues, politicians, business leaders, and fans.
Zanele passed away on Monday at Parklands Hospital after a battle with lung cancer.
Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, announced her passing and thanked everyone for their prayers and support during her illness.
“We are grateful for all the prayers, love, and support we received throughout her illness. The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate through this challenging time,” he said.
In April, she experienced challenges with her voice during her Sunday morning segment, Eshilo, leading to her colleague, Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu, stepping in.
Her daughter, Nonjabulo, later disclosed that Zanele underwent minor surgery for shortness of breath.
Despite medical interventions, Zanele succumbed to the disease.
Zanele’s passing marks the end of a remarkable career in South African media, where she left an indelible mark through her work and dedication.
