Shauwn Mkhize‘s week went from bad to worse when, on Tuesday, law enforcement raided her La Lucia home, seizing more than they had probably bargained for.
Shauwn Mkhize kept an arsenal of firearms – report
In an explosive City Press report, sources claim tax authorities aided by Durban Hawks infiltrated Mkhize’s home and recovered 40 firearms and more than 200 rounds of ammunition stashed in a safe.
The weapons cache, which holds enough firepower to rival a police precinct, is allegedly registered in the name of the Royal AM owner’s private security, a man said to have links to presidential protection services.
In another part of the house, authorities discovered six more high-calibre firearms.
Apart from the ongoing SARS investigation, where Mkhize is accused of swindling more than R37 million from the public purse, Andile Mpisane’s mom could be charged with the illegal possession of firearms since her weapons cache licences were expired.
Authorities who spoke in anonymity after the raid confirmed the weapons will undergo ballistics testing to establish potential links to open cases.
Mkhize, who is yet to make a public statement after Tuesday’s raid, is not considered a suspect or person of interest in an ongoing investigation.
On social media, video footage showing tow trucks carrying Mkhize’s luxury fleet went viral and we can now confirm that the seizure included:
- a Mercedes-Benz G-wagon;
- a Ferrari;
- a Maserati; and
- a Rolls-Royce Ghost
