Actress Brenda Ngxoli, known for her acclaimed roles in South African television and film, has found herself at the centre of public attention after a series of videos showing a heated argument with her mother went viral.
Video of Brenda Ngxoli in a heated argument with her mother goes viral
The video shows Brenda recording a confrontation with her mother, who accuses the actress of past abuse.
During the argument, Brenda is seen carrying her daughter, Sky, on her back while attempting to defend herself against the claims.
Brenda, visibly emotional, denies the allegations and counters that her mother has been abusive toward her since childhood.
The argument escalates when Brenda’s mother reminds her that she funded Brenda’s education. The remark appears to enrage the actress, leading to a back-and-forth exchange.
At one point, Brenda’s mother slams the door in her face while continuing to make accusations from inside the house.
Brenda films from outside, capturing her mother’s shocking comments, including criticisms about Brenda allegedly abandoning her spiritual calling and refusing to provide financial assistance.
Tensions rise further when her mother brings up Brenda’s apparent failed relationship with the father of her child, adding to the already volatile exchange.
The argument is said to have stemmed from Brenda allegedly refusing to provide her mother with food.
Brenda later posted another video explaining her decision to record the altercation. She claimed she wanted to prove she had never been abusive toward her mother, despite allegations to the contrary.
Brenda revealed that such accusations were not new and that she has dealt with similar issues in the past.
One of the most controversial points in the argument was her mother’s remarks about Brenda abandoning her spiritual calling.
Brenda had previously revealed that she left “sangomahood” to focus on motherhood and Christianity.
In a social media post, she explained that the birth of her daughter, Sky, inspired her decision.
“I left ‘sangomahood’ for motherhood and Christianity. Thank you, Sky, your arrival has opened my eyes and heart to what is mine and what should be left for others to enjoy,” she wrote.
In 2019, Brenda took a break from acting to follow her spiritual calling, a decision that sparked rumours about her absence. Brenda later clarified that her hiatus was for personal and spiritual growth.
Despite her absence from the spotlight, Brenda Ngxoli has continued to make waves in the acting industry.
She was recently nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Feature Film at the 2024 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) for her role in iNumber Number: Jozi Gold.
