According to Shazam, Master KG has the biggest song in the world.
Master KG takes over Shazam global charts
Jerusalema, a song that has exploded and taken over the world’s airwaves, has dethroned Jawish 685 and Jason Derulo’s Savage Love on Shazam’s Top 200 Global Popular Songs chart.
For this week, at least, Master KG occupies the number one spot and this is yet another reason for Mzansi to join the Limpopo producer in celebrating his meteoric rise to stardom.
The Shazam charts are regularly updated to track user activity on a daily basis. Currently, Jerusalema occupies the eighth spot in the music discovery app’s Top 200 South Africa chart and runs behind Nomcebo Zikode’s (the lead vocalist on Jerusalema) recently released Xola Moya Wam on the Top 50 Cape Town chart.
Sizwe Dhlomo gifts Jerusalema producer with free advice
Dozens of celebrities honoured Master KG’s groundbreaking achievements. Cassper Nyovest launched a scathing attack on the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) for blatantly snubbing the Limpopo producer.
Other celebrities also chimed in with their endearing messages to Master KG.
Radio host and entrepreneur Sizwe Dhlomo used his platform to give Master KG sound advice about prolonging the success he has received at a time where the closure of borders have hampered the producer’s meteoric rise.
“The borders are closed right now, so it’ll be difficult for you to monetise the success of your song but please forge & solidify relationships (via your label) with everyone who has shown you love. Then when this is over, take advantage,” Dhlomo tweeted.
South Africa is still, in principle, under Lockdown Level 2. While leisurely dometic travel has been reopened, we still aren’t allowed to fly to other counties.
No indications have been made, as yet, on whether international travel will be allowed once the country is upgraded to Level 1. Regardless, Master KG will hope this is the case. The world is anxiously waiting to meet the man who made the world’s most popular song.
