Radio personality and entrepreneur Sbusiso “DJ Sbu” Leope has officially resigned from his position as a morning show host on Radio 2000, leaving behind speculation about the circumstances surrounding his departure.

While DJ Sbu has made a public statement regarding his exit, the station itself has remained silent, fuelling further questions about whether his resignation was entirely voluntary.
In a formal statement, DJ Sbu expressed gratitude for his time at the station, describing it as an experience filled with “cherished memories” and “the joy of connecting” with listeners.
He also confirmed that his resignation comes before the official end of his contract, which was set to conclude on 30 March 2025.
He stated that he is preparing for a new breakfast show launching on a different platform starting 1 April 2025, marking a fresh chapter in his radio career.
Despite DJ Sbu’s positive tone, Radio 2000 has not released any statements addressing his resignation.
The lack of acknowledgement from the station has led to speculation about possible tensions behind the scenes, as sudden exits without formal communication often indicate internal disagreements.

He previously made headlines when he exited Metro FM under controversial circumstances in 2015. At the time, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) confirmed that his contract would not be renewed but did not provide an official reason.
Reports later emerged suggesting that his departure was linked to the unauthorised promotion of his MoFaya energy drink at an SABC-sponsored awards show.
His departure from Radio 2000 has led to further speculation about whether a similar dispute may have contributed to his exit.
However, without an official response from the station, the full details remain unclear.
