It seems the beef between the two Amapiano pioneers, DJ Maphorisa and Prince Kaybee, will never end with Kaybee firing subliminal shots at the Banyana DJ.
How Prince Kaybee rattled DJ Maphorisa
It all started with a tweet from Prince Kaybee, proposing an idea of how a Netflix documentary should be made detailing the roots and culture of Amapiano music.
However, the Gugulethu DJ added that the show should exclude those who jumped on the Amapiano bandwagon after not succeeding in their original genres.
To many this seemed like a great idea, however, others picked up that this was definitely shots fired at Kaybee’s number one nemesis, DJ Maphorisa.
And of course, Maphorisa fired back with some words of his own.
The Folasade DJ clapped back by claiming Kaybee was just upset because he has been struggling to chart and how he had paid attention to the kids on the streets and has found success from it.
His last blow was some advice towards Kaybee, telling him to be humble instead of arrogant and to always listen to the new kids on the block.
Maphorisa finally added that he had made his first song five years ago, without his frequent collaborator, Kabza De Small, and that Kaybee should refrain from saying nonsense.
Even the controversial hip-hop personality, Nota Baloyi, came to Maphorisa’s aid, stating that Maphorisa had always wanted to make a Gqom and Amapiano album way back in 2015.
A brief history of the beef between the two producers
This isn’t the first time the two have engaged so aggressively towards each other on Twitter.
In the beginning, it all started with Maphorisa dissing Kaybee for not owning his own masters.
The two have gone on to battle about who had the better streaming and charting numbers.
They even had a childish debate over who had the better car, with Maphorisa claiming his BMW M4 was a better car than Kaybee’s Mercedes Benz AMG GT.
They’ve also called each out other for their style of clothing and other unnecessary things in the past.
The beef between the two seems like it’ll never end and it continues to entertain the world of Amapiano.
