March is banging with new South African (SA) music and leading the line on Friday is rising star Costa Titch and Lok’ish, the frontline soldier of the Skhanda Republic.
In this landscape, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa have a firm chokehold on radio and digital streaming.
The competition is unmatched and because of this, every genre is undergoing a shift in its DNA, copying itself into the metronome of Amapiano.
But, this sonic shift in SA music has not affected Hip-Hop. Superstars are born every day and the genre still pulls in crowds.
SA music: New releases this week ending Friday, 20 March
Costa Titch ft Boity – Thembi & Phezulu
At the front of this new-age, highly energetic movement is a slew of rising stars that will take the business of SA Hip-Hop to a new lucrative phase.
Costa Titch is fast becoming a festival artist. The rapper has links to Riky Rick’s Cotton Records occult. He has yet to release an album but with the commercial success of Nkalakatha, he has been afforded a lot of time.
The young star has followed up with two new singles Thembi featuring Boity and Phezulu.
Lok’ish ft K.O – Section
The song is building up to be a great sophomore release. His fans will be looking forward to a debut album which, at this time, has not been confirmed.
K.O, an old head in the game, has ushered in his new breed of young talent through his Skhanda Republic label. After the buzz around the group’s first single Killa Combo, K.O’s team has released a second single, this time featuring Lok’shn.
Section is currently out now on every digital streaming platform.
